#30dayswild 24

This evening the sun was in just the right position to be able to see the sap(?) being released from the leaves on the trees as I was on my walk.

Warwickshire Open Studios

Today I have been visiting some local artists who are taking part in Warwickshire Open Studios.

There were nine nearby places for me to visit. It amazes me the talent that my neighbours have and are hiding behind closed doors. I have bought something from each of them, which was exciting in its’ own way, trying to choose what I liked best within my budget. All of the artists were very welcoming, and happy to talk about the work that they are doing.

(In no particular order)

  • Sarah – beautiful mirrors and hand printed wood block images, which have been turned into a range of cards and magnets amongst other things.
  • Judith – landscapes, seascapes and animals.
  • Adam – now with a bigger workshop at the Custard Factory but still showing at home, some beautiful glass. Great fun hearing how it is all made and put together
  • Emma – I think I made her day as I bought an original piece of work! Made from felt and then sewn over with a machine, Emma has some fantastic work.
  • Ali – Some lovely glass jewellery from Ali.
  • Emma – monsters, prints, pictures and even books here, all delightful.
  • Adam – another amazing landscape painter, with lots from the local area as well as some from further afield
  • Brenda – watercolour landscapes and moving into more experimental painting, we had a lovely conversation about the type of art she likes!
  • Theo – scarves on a mathematical theme. I had a demonstration of the loom and we had a lovely chat about the maths of his scarves. I didn’t need one, but I might have bought one!

Back in the city centre today, and discovered that the University has a spider hotel and an allotment, which has picking instructions for those that want to help themselves. It’s awesome!

Slacking with the blog!

  • Watching the caterpillars in the classroom grow bigger and turn into crysalises
  • Walking in the rain
  • Lunch in the sun
  • Researching building a bug hotel
  • Walking familiar routes in the opposite direction. You see so much more!
